SIOUX CITY, Iowa –
Briar Cliff University’s award-winning literary magazine, The
Briar Cliff Review, announces its Thirteenth Annual National
“Fiction, Poetry and Creative Nonfiction Contest.”
First-place contest
winners in each category will receive $1,000 in addition to
publication in the Spring 2009 edition. Manuscript deadline is
Nov. 1, 2008. Entries will be judged by the editors of The
Briar Cliff Review. Last year’s contest received more than
2,000 entries from across the U.S. and around the world.
Writers also are
encouraged to submit manuscripts to be considered for
publication in the “Siouxland” section of the magazine.
Siouxland submissions would be historical and/or contemporary
articles or photo-essays concerning the culture or environment
of Northwest Iowa, Southeast South Dakota and Northeast
Nebraska.

Briar Cliff Review began more than 20 years ago on the Briar
Cliff campus. Since its inception, the literary magazine has
published the works of 1,025 writers/artists from 45 states in
the U.S. and the countries of Croatia, Madagascar, Vietnam,
Japan, Ireland, Great Britain, Norway, Philippines and Taiwan.
Among The Briar Cliff Review’s many awards are five Gold
Crowns, two Silver Crowns by the Columbia Scholastic Press
Association and two National Pacemaker awards by Associated
Collegiate Press.
